ABOUT
Rev. Julie

The Rev. Julie Conrady (she/elle) serves as the Settled Minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham since 2018 and as the Consulting Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a connection created in 2022.

Rev. Julie's sermons are inspired by all the ways humans create - shared history, spiritual practices, sacred texts, and pop culture, among others. Her previous careers in hospital chaplaincy and social studies education inform her perspective. With a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma City University, plus minors in Education and Psychology, her scholarship and continued learning enlightens her ministry. She is currently pursuing a Master-level certificate in Non-Profit Management.

Interfaith collaboration is close to her heart, and Rev. Julie serves as the leader of the Interfaith Alliance of Central Alabama - the only group of its kind in the Birmingham area.

Out in the community, Rev. Julie offers her presence and voice at protests, collaborating with activists and community leaders, and serves on the Board of the ACLU of Alabama. She also offers secular programming and workshop facilitation to local civic organizations.

Rev. Julie is honored to be awarded the Ally of the Year award by Central Alabama Pride, the Rosa Parks Award, and the Community Leader Service Award by T.A.K.E. Resource Center.

Her spouse, Josh Flores, is a 10th grade English teacher, and her children, Stark and Ezio, keep her hopping between their activities and varied interests. They share their home with their ancient black cat SamIAm, a bearded dragon named Bebby, and an assortment of beloved fish.
